Privacy Policy

Spectrum Sports Combat ("we", "us", "our") runs a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), MMA and Muay Thai gym at 7/50 Heaths Court, Mill Park VIC 3082.

We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and who we share it with. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

We only collect the information we need to help you book and attend classes.

Website booking forms. The forms on our kids page (/kids-bjj-mill-park) and adult page (/adult-bjj-mma-mill-park) collect:

  • your name
  • your mobile number
  • your email address
  • your class preferences (for example, which class or day suits you)

Facebook and Instagram lead forms. When you fill in one of our forms inside Facebook or Instagram, we collect:

  • the parent or guardian's name
  • mobile number
  • email address
  • your child's age band
  • your preferred weekday

When you contact us. If you call, text, message or email us, we keep the details you give us so we can reply.

Website and advertising data. Our website uses cookies and similar tools (see section 9). These can collect information such as the pages you visit, the device and browser you use, and whether you submitted a form or tapped to contact us.

2. Why we collect it and how we use it

We use your information to:

  • contact you by phone call or text message about booking a free trial class
  • answer your questions about classes, times and memberships
  • run and improve our classes and our website
  • measure how well our ads work and show relevant ads to people who may be interested in our gym

We will not sell your personal information.

3. Children's information

Many of our students are children. Information about a child (such as their age band) should be supplied by a parent or guardian. Our kids booking forms and lead forms are intended to be filled in by a parent or guardian, and we will contact the parent or guardian, not the child.

If you believe a child has given us information without a parent or guardian's involvement, please contact us and we will deal with it.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the gym and our website, and only as needed. These include:

  • Squarespace, which hosts our website and forms, and emails form submissions to us
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), which provides our ads, lead forms and the Meta Pixel
  • Google, which provides Google Ads and Google reCAPTCHA (used to block spam on our forms)
  • Our email provider, which receives form submissions

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

5. Sending information overseas

Squarespace, Meta and Google may store or process information outside Australia.

6. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Access to booking and lead details is limited to the people who need it to contact you. Information is stored with the service providers listed above.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, and then delete it.

7. Opting out of contact

You can stop us contacting you at any time:

  • reply STOP to any text message from us, or
  • call, text or email us and ask us to stop.

You can also control the ads you see through your Facebook, Instagram and Google ad settings.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm who you are before we share or change anything.

9. Cookies and pixels

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies:

  • Squarespace uses cookies to run the website.
  • Meta Pixel. Our website uses the Meta Pixel. It tells Meta when someone submits a booking form (a "Lead" event) or taps to contact us by phone or WhatsApp (a "Contact" event). Meta uses this to measure our ads and show them to people who may be interested.
  • Google Ads may use cookies to measure and show our ads.
  • Google reCAPTCHA helps stop spam on our forms. Its use is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website, such as forms, may not work properly if you do.

10. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
