“Outstanding kids' Jiu Jitsu classes! Ryan and the coaches are very experienced, encouraging, friendly and genuinely dedicated to helping every child improve. My son was quite nervous and lacked confidence when he first started, but the coaches encouraged him and helped build his confidence. He absolutely loves coming to class now! I highly recommend Spectrum to any parent looking for a welcoming and supportive environment for their child to learn Jiu Jitsu.”

“Absolutely love Spectrum! Both of my girls do Jiu-Jitsu and MMA here and they absolutely love it. It has done wonders for their confidence, discipline and resilience, while also teaching them great skills and respect. The coaches are fantastic, the environment is welcoming, and the girls genuinely look forward to every session. Couldn’t recommend Spectrum highly enough!”

“We’ve had such a great experience with Spectrum. The kids’ MMA and Jiu Jitsu classes are fantastic, and it’s clear that the instructors bring years of real experience both inside and outside the ring. What really stands out is how welcoming and professional everyone is. The kids are taught discipline, respect and confidence, but just as importantly, they’re taught the fundamentals and proper technique from the very beginning. There’s a real focus on building a strong foundation rather than just throwing the kids into it. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable and genuinely invested in helping the kids improve. Couldn’t recommend Spectrum highly enough. A fantastic combat sports gym and a great community to be part of!”

“We have tried a few different Jiu Jitsu places, but unfortunately we weren’t happy with them. From the moment we went to Spectrum in Mill Park, we could tell it was different. The trainers were fantastic, friendly and brilliant with the kids. There were also several trainers available in the session which was great help to the kids. The atmosphere was amazing — fun, positive. My son absolutely loved it, had so much fun, and learned a lot. We would highly recommend Spectrum to anyone looking for a great Jiu Jitsu club for their children.”

“Wrapped with Spectrum Jiu Jitsu! Set my brother up at the gym a few months ago and it has been massively positive for him — better focus, sleep and attitude. Ryan has been a great guide along the way and we’re stoked with the enthusiasm and environment the gym provides!”

Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, done properly

Spectrum Sports Combat runs kids BJJ classes in Mill Park every weekday after school. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches children how to stay calm under pressure, control a bigger opponent without punching or kicking, and keep themselves safe. Every class starts with a warm-up and games, moves into technique, and finishes with supervised, controlled rolling, so kids learn by doing.

Families come to us from Mill Park, Epping, South Morang and Bundoora, and many parents train in the adult classes on the same mats.

Confidence

Kids learn to stand tall, speak up and try hard things.

Anti-bullying

Calm, safe ways to control a situation without striking.

Discipline

Listening, respect and focus that carry into school.

Fitness

Strength, balance and coordination, minus the screens.

The belt journey

Kids work through a 13-rank system, from white to green/black. A certificate and belt are awarded once the professors approve each promotion. Slide to see the road.

2. Risk warning (Wrongs Act 1958 (Vic)). The Activities are dangerous recreational activities.
